Popsicle Stick Puzzles
It’s been raining. Any other moms out there notice? We have been baking, coloring, sculpting, and sneaking in a little “Frozen” here and there. And when the sun breaks through we are outside in a flash! Wouldn’t want to keep Sprout from eating all that mulch (just kidding!). Lately, Chickadee has also really liked putting together puzzles when inside. We have done these puzzles over and over….so the other day I thought maybe we world make some of our own.
Yesterday we made them with popsicle sticks and cookie cutters and they turned out really cute! Here is a little picture step by step if you are a visual person like me.
Line up your popsicle sticks and tape them together. Then flip it over.
Use a cookie cutter or free hand your shape.
Outline with a marker and then let your little one color it in…or if you trust your toddler let them go at it :) I did a little follow up once she finished!
Turn back over and number the popsicle sticks in case you ever can’t figure out the order. I also put a D for dinosaur in case the stick gets mixed up with other “puzzle sticks”
Untape and play!
Keep creating!
If you toddler isn’t really into puzzles or is younger it could be beneficial to use the larger popsicle sticks. Chickadee keeps asking to make more! We are storing them in a jar wrapped up in a rubber band. I love creating with her and watching her little brain work. 2.5 is really fun (and really hard all at the same time!)
So what are you doing on the rainy Spring days?
Very interesting way to create simple and interesting puzzles for kids….loved it
