The Very Hungry Caterpillar Birthday Party
I have a TWO year old! She is the sweetest little thing and we couldn’t wait to celebrate her. I had a hard time figuring out what our “theme” should be, and then one week she asked to read The Very Hungry Caterpillar over and over and over. At first, I thought it would be perfect as their Halloween costumes (Sprout as the caterpillar and Chickadee the butterfly), and then the more I thought about it, I decided to run with it as the party theme too!
We invited family and a few of Chickadee’s friends from church and playdates. It was a beautiful fall day. We set up a jump house we had borrowed from a friend and let the kids play inside and out. It was a great day to celebrate our baby girl!
Here are a few photos. We didn’t go crazy, but we definitely followed a theme!
All of the serving dishes and platters were bought at The Dollar Tree, Target, and Walmart. The tablecloth is from Hobby Lobby. My sweet sister made the banners and caterpillar door wreath.
(Psst! Check out this list of free Target Coupons that my friend Jocie put together! She updates it several times per week so you will always save money!)
For food we stuck with the food the caterpillar ate in the book: apples (applesauce), fruit, muffins, cheese (& crackers), salami, and mini sausages. We also added in trail mix and pb&j shaped like butterflies.
For favors Chickadee and I made caterpillar salt dough ornaments. They turned out super cute and hopefully will hang on all of her friend’s Christmas trees for years to come!
For Chickadee’s actual birthday, III took the day off and we celebrated as a family. It started with “2” pancakes with sprinkles & candles, then there was a lot of playing outside, a trip to Build-a-Bear, the playground, Chickfila, a cookie, a nap, and then a picnic at the park for dinner. It was finally capped off with a cupcake!
Happy Birthday Chickadee!
Soooooo cute! Great job!! Happy Birthday Chickadee!
