Sprout | Seven Months

Oh Sprout,

I’m a few weeks late posting your 7 month update, but it’s par for the course after the craziness that followed us around all month! I’ll be honest with you baby boy…it’s been a rough month. Now don’t get me wrong, we love you to pieces and are soaking up every second with you. I can’t believe how fast time is flying by and all of the milestones you hit week after week. You are growing so fast and becoming more and more expressive. You LOVE watching your sister do just about anything and I love watching your dad make you laugh. So many memories are being made little one.

But lets get one thing straight. You and I both need a full week of sleeping through the night again. We thought we were smooth sailing in the sleep department, but then all of a sudden everything went awry. The craziness of teething, a growth spurt, wonder week, a nasty cold, and traveling all converged and your night time sleep go all messed up! We have a few days here or there where you make it 11-12 hours and it is glorious. But then we have a hiccup and your dad and I are promising you future rewards in exchange for a night of full sleep. So many have told me we’ll miss the middle of the night jam sessions, so I am trying my best to enjoy them….but sleeping through the night, little man we enjoy that too! Let’s make this month the month it becomes the norm! I am thankful that your naps have stayed on track. You are still takin 2-3 naps a day. The first is around 8:30 or 9 for about 1.5 hours. Then you sleep again from about 1:00-3:00. Finally, depending on your mood you sometimes are still taking a catnap around 5:00.

Hopefully, your first tooth pushing through will help the sleeping situation. You have been teething for MONTHS baby boy. Drooling, chewing, fussing…it all hit you pretty hard. We were ALL happy when it finally popped through, November 17th. I have a feeling more are coming since you are still chewing on EVERYTHING!

Another factor keeping you from sleeping has been a nasty cold. You fought hard to keep being your happy self, but once the cold got deep into your chest we had to take you to the doctor where he put you on a nebulizer. It was sooooo tough to watch you scream as you took in the breathing treatment. It did help though, so they sent you home with an inhaler and within a few days you were feeling much better!

Like I mentioned you hit a couple big milestones this month. For started you dived into the world of food. We started with bananas on October 12 right after you turned 6 months. You were not a fan. Over the next few weeks we did find a few favorites to fill your tummy. They include butternut squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, peas, apples, pears, mango, and avocados. You also love the little teething bars by Plum Organics along with their puffs! On most days you eat at least two meals a day in addition to the 4 times your nurse.

You are pushing up a lot when you are on your tummy as well as rolling all over the place. Also as of November 2nd you are solidly sitting up (with great posture I might add!). It’s a whole new world when you are a foot or so off the ground.

This month we celebrated both your sister’s 2nd birthday and Halloween. For both we dressed you as the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Holy Moly you were so cute! Chickadee was a butterfly and I plan to dress you in coordinating outfits as long as I can!

The biggest moment that happened this month is you were baptized at church. It was such a special day to dedicate you to the Lord and we are praying fervently for the day you come to know the Lord and follow his will for your life. We pray that you move mountains for him sweet boy. Both your grandparents and all your aunts, uncles, and cousins were there to celebrate you!

Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard see, you can say to this mountain “Move from here to there” and it will move. Nothing is impossible for the Lord. – Matthew 17:20

A few stats in your seventh month of life. You weighed in at 16lbs 5oz and are 26.5 inches long. You are still in a size 3 diaper and wear mostly 9 month clothes. You are nursing 4 times a day and taking 2-3 naps.

We are so thankful God entrusted us to you and allow us to be your mom and dad. We love you so much Sprout and are looking forward to watching you grow into the man God created you to be!

  • Hi Laura Beth,
One Southerner to another you are an awesome Mom and I love reading your Website. You are having the best time in your life. Time flies. Believe me. I am 60 years old. I have been married to same man for 43 years. What a blessing! We had one son, who is a teacher and his wife also. They gave us four beautiful grandchildren. He has always put God first in his life and family has done well. God is my savior. I love him with all my heart. I trust in him with my asthma. I ask you to pray for me. Thank you for this blessing this Sunday.
