Sprout | Six Months
Six months….SIX MONTHS!! How can it be?? Happy Half Birthday, Sprout! We love celebrating you & soaking in all of your goodness. We are so lucky to be your parents and we love every moment of love and craziness you add to our family!
You are growing like a weed. When we tell folks you are six months, they are always surprised and think you are older….and then when they find out your were a preemie. Well, let’s just say you don’t leave any food on the table! You weigh about 16.5 pounds and are around 24 inches long. We haven’t tried any real food yet (still nursing 4-5 times a day) but I plan to start next week with bananas and avocado.
You are really coming into your own little man. Your personality is shining through and unless you are sleepy you are a HAPPY little guy. You laugh all the time and you LOVE watching your big sister do just about anything. My favorite are all the giggles that come from watching her walk down the stairs after nap time.
This month has brought lots of rolling. You’ve definitely reached the stage where I put you down in one place and you end up on the other side of the room. Rolling in all directions is officially checked off the developmental list. Because of your rolling you have also started sleeping on your stomach. You are on your way to sitting up, right now you are really rocking the tripod stance, but I know you will have “criss cross applesauce” in no time!
Your feet are now one of your favorite toys. You love grabbing them and trying to put them in your mouth. Anything you can put in your mouth is actually a hit (you currently are also having a love affair with Sophie the giraffe). I know your first tooth is going to pop through at any moment!
Your sleeping has been all over the place this month. I think you are going through a stormy wonder week or two. You have fought nighttime sleep but usually give in when daddy is the one putting your down. Once you fall asleep, thankfully, you are normally down for the night (about 11 hours). Your naps have to be timed perfectly if we want your to put yourself to sleep. Currently you nap about an hour after you wake up (1.5 hours), then a catnap while we are running errands. Another long nap about 1:00 and then another catnap around 5:00.
You took a couple of trips this month. One to Oneonta to visit Bebe, Pop, Rachel, and Zac. You did a lot of playing and cooing. We also traveled downtown to visit daddy at work! Your longest trip this month was to LA (lower Alabama). You did great on the way down!! Wish I could say the same for our return journey :/ We got to see Nana & Paw Paw, plus lots of your cousins. We also spent some good time with your great grandmother, Nannie Gunter. We even celebrated her 84th birthday. You thought it only appropriate to give her a present of your own…which consisted of ruining your outfit and well you were already in your spare clothes, so you continued the party in your birthday suit!
We are looking forward to the next days, months, and years with you! We can’t wait to see the little guy God grows you into. We are looking forward to developing your gifts and talents and teaching you to walk in His way.
“For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” – Romans 9:17
