Sprout,

Time has flown by so quickly! You, sweet boy, are an amazing blessing to our family, & we have a hard time remembering what life was like without you. You fill our days with so much joy! You were a great sleeper from the start, and not much of a crier at all. You have been sleeping in our room and then we have been watching Gilmore Girls when you eat during the night. You were an eating champ from day one! In the NICU they were trying to guestimate how much you were taking and when we did a weighted feed, they found out you were eating twice as much as they thought! At our first doctor’s appointment, April 21 your weighed in at 5lb 9oz, and by the two week appointment you were up to 6lb 3oz. On April 26 you turned your head from side to side during tummy time. You sleep a lot, either in your rock n play, swing, or wrapped up in the solly wrap. You are wearing newborn clothes and diapers, but I think you’ll be moving up to 0-3 months soon. We had lots of visitors you first month. Both Bebe & Pop came to visit, and Rachel too…Nana and PawPaw also stayed for several days to soak you in!

By month two we were settling in to be being a family of four. I have figured out how to get out and about with you and your sister. You travel well! We took your first trip to Oneonta for Memorial Day and you slept the entire way. You even spent some time at the lake! We had another appointment at 5 weeks and you weighed 7lb 14oz and measured in at 21 inches. By your two month appointment you were 10lb 10oz, 22 inches. The doctor was impressed with your growth! You got your first set of shots and while you weren’t happy during the poking, you got over it pretty quickly. You are eating 7-8 times a day still (pretty much every three hours) and smack your lips when you are hungry. We are getting one 4-5 hour stretch at night which is much appreciated by your mama! You mostly nap in the swing…I’ve been trying to get you to nap in your crib but it’s not going well. Your sister has really fallen in love with you. She loves you fiercely, sometimes almost too much, but she means well!

Summer is here! And with it brings more sleep for us all. You slept through the night for the first time on July 1st, 9:30 – 5:00. It was an early wake up call but they were 7.5 glorious hours. You’ve also started smiling ALL.THE.TIME. And it’s not gas. You are so sweet & happy! Your smile melts our heart each and every time. We had another big trip this month, this time to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina. You met your great grandmother (Pop’s mom) and spent a lot of time on the beach. You slept well with the ocean waves in the background & the breeze in your “hair.” Your sister continues to dote on your more and more and she officially “held” you for the first time on July 1st. We’ve spent a lot of this month outside and you have quite the set up with a little travel fan to keep you cool. You enjoy your days sitting pool side and walks in the stroller. You’ve transitioned to about 6 feedings a day, still every three hours or so, but you are sleeping for longer stretches at night. You are wearing size 3 month clothes and size 1 diapers. Also, your little hernia belly button finally went back in, and you finally have a normal looking belly button. You are changing so much baby boy. You looked a lot like your sister when you were born, but you are beginning to favor your daddy a little bit. You definitely have his skin tone. Everyone talks about how tan you are!

Today you are 4 months old precious baby boy! You weighed in at 13lb 10ozat your four month appointment and measured 23.5 inches long. We are down to 5-6 feedings a day depending on how well you sleep at night. To be honest things are a little inconsistent. You occasionally wake up around 3 or 4 am still and want to eat for a few minutes before crashing again. I’m hoping you will be sleeping through the night consistently soon though! We are still swaddling you, but will probably be dropping that soon! We finally set up your nursery and on July 13  you slept in there for the first time. On August 1st you rolled over from your tummy to your back. It was during tummy time which you don’t love. You were very impressed with yourself when you finally flipped over and your sister gave you a clap and a “yay!” I’ve managed to get you to take at least one nap in your crib, although you still nap best in the swing. You are grabbing things a lot; your favorite is the piano kick mat. You both kick the keyboard and grab the animals. Oh, and LOVE the fan. No matter what room we go to, the fan attracts your attention immediately! You are pretty smitten with a pacifier, however you also have taken to sucking your fist. We are so in love with your sweet boy and praise the Lord that he blessed us to be your mama & daddy!
