All Natural Air Freshener
So can I be honest for a minute. I didn’t get the essential oil bandwagon everyone hopped on around here about a year or so ago. I didn’t get it…but then I stumbled across an essential oil recipe that would make my stinky dog smell better. I thought it was worth a shot…and well, craziness, but it actually worked. So when we had another stinky situation at the house I decided to call on essential oils again with some all natural air freshener. So it is pretty easy to make your own air freshener & you probably have most ingredients in your house (especially if you are an “oiler!” There are only 2-4 ingredient depending on your oil preferences. So I have two recipes for you…
The first is a spray for freshening lots of spaces, keep it under the cabinet and when folks are coming over or you just want your husband to think you’ve spent all day cleaning the house, give all your spaces a little spritz!
Here is what you’ll need: 1 cup of water, 1/4 rubbing alcohol, 10 drops of the essential oil of your choice, and a spray bottle. Here are a few suggestions. Lavender is great bedroom and bathrooms. It has a calming/relaxing effect. Lemon is perfect in the kitchen because it is extremely refreshing. And peppermint is really great anywhere as the smell will give anyone a nice little pick me up! You may even include these delta 8 carts for to improve your mood!
Mix the water and alcohol first, then add in about 10 drops of the essential oil (or a combination if you want to get crazy) of your choice. Shake before each use!
The second air freshening tip is more of a stationary option, a secret smell good bowl guaranteed to freshen up any room!. We all have those areas that are extra stinky. Maybe because of a stinky trash can, a diaper pail, or it’s the dog’s favorite area to hang out.
Here is what you’ll need: a small bowl, cotton balls, and 15-20 drops of your essential oil of choice! This is pretty self explanatory, but you’ll place the 4 or 5 cotton balls in your cute bowl. Then soak them pretty liberally with your choice of essential oil. Hide the bowl behind a picture or place on the mantle or counter. Ahhhhh….it’s so refreshing, lasts for days and you don’t have to spend all your $$$$ on crazy expensive candles (or remember to blow them out!).
I also wanted to share with you a quick, all purpose cleaner.
Here’s what you’ll need: 2 cups of water, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon dish soap, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 5 drops of lemon essential oil. First, boil the water. Then mix baking soda, water, dish soap and essential oil together in a spray bottle. Add in vinegar. Mix.
When I finally started coming around on the idea of using essential oils I asked a friend and avid user, what is so great about them? Here is what she shared with me:
I LOVE essential oils for DIY projects. I started using them 6 years ago for therapeutic benefits which has been amazing. I quickly learned that you can make your own cleaners and homemade products with them as well. It has been an amazing journey. We have been able to make all natural organic products for PENNIES! You will want to be picky about which brand of oil you use, not all essential oils are a good quality even though they may be marked as 100% pure organic.
