Reese’s’ Pieces Turkey | A Kid’s Thanksgiving Craft
I’m popping in for a quick Thanksgiving craft idea today. If you follow me on Instagram you saw my little preview! I wanted to craft with Chickadee, but so much of what I found just wasn’t going to work for a one year old. This was just enough for her to be a part of it and for it to be memorable. I will give you a little tutorial, but it’s pretty straight forward :o)
I picked up this glass votive/bowl at The Dollar Tree along with a few packs of Reese’s Pieces (perfect Thanksgiving colors).
The googly eyes are glued on with hot glue.
Then I cut out the corner of orange cardstock to make the beak & red cardstock for the gizzard. They are also glued on with hot glue (fold down a little bit of the long edge of the orange beak to help you attach it to the bowl).
The feathers are Chickadee’s hands. I only could get her to sit still long enough to trace the first one, but I just used it as a stencil to trace the others. Two of each color…brown, red, yellow, and orange. They are also attached with hot glue.
Now, here is my hope. If I can remember where I store this once fall is over, I am hoping to trace her hand again next year and attach another row of hands. I wrote her name and 2014 on the back of one of the feathers. Next year when I add the second row I can write 2015 and so on…It will be so fun to watch her grow & attach new feather hands each year!
Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!
Love it!!! Thanks for sharing.
Could you post a pic of the completed product from behind? Want to see how the feathers look at the back of the bowl. Thank you.
This is adorable! I just made some with my granddaughter and we are going to used them as placecards for our Thanksgiving table.
I bet they turned out great!!
