Happy 1/2 Birthday Chickadee

Someone had a BIG weekend. Not only did we celebrate our risen Savior at Easter, but Chickadee turned SIX months! How are we half way to a year….the way time is flying blows my mind. So let me update on what has been happening this month….

Dear Baby Girl,

This month has been one of my favorites. You continue to become the most amazing little girl, & I have loved watching your personality develop this month. You are so observant and inquisitive. Scratching different textures has become one of your favorite past times. Any material that makes a sound when you scratch your little fingers against it brings a smile to your face. We made your longest trip to date to Greensboro, NC to visit your great grandmother. It was a 7 hour journey and you had so many secrets to share with Grandmomma when we arrived.

Baby girl you have become obsessed with your feet. You finally were able to grab and hold on long enough to all out suck on your big toe. We are all impressed. I often carry you around in the Ergo when we go shopping. You definitely prefer riding on my side so you can always see where you are going. Another spot you love hanging out is the exersaucer and jumping up and down & up and down….while grabbing with all the fun that surrounds you! Your first trip to the nursery at church was on March 9th. You did great! We were worried about leaving you for the first time with folks we don’t really know, but I think we (I) was more nervous than you! Speaking of big happenings at church, you were baptized on April 6th. It was a beautiful day with family to celebrate you and promise to lead you to Jesus. You looked beautiful wearing your great great grandfather’s christening gown.

We introduced you to a world outside of milk this month. You love trying to hold a sippy cup and can almost tilt it enough to take a sip on your own. Food has also been a fun experience. I’ve been “making” your baby food. So far you’ve tried bananas (April 6), avocado (April 16), and pears (April 17). Pears and bananas you are a pretty big fan of….avocado, not so much.

Another big milestone…..this baby girl can sit up folks. You starting getting close about two weeks ago, but as of April 18 (just one day shy of 6 months) I think we can say you are now seeing the world in a whole new perspective. Now, I can’t say that I would leave you sitting in the living room and run get a glass of water….but you are becoming more sturdy each day!

Now I must admit things are going pretty well….however, things aren’t always peachy around here. For example…..8 out of 10 times you ride in your car seat, you have a blow out. Like the we have to change your whole outfit kid. We’ve gotten used to it and now that the weather is warmer I have a new strategy. I put you in with your outfit usually unsnapped and pulled up around your shoulders. That way your outfit at least doesn’t get ruined. It seems to be working pretty well. ALSO, last week you decided you would take 30 minute naps instead of the hour and half ones we had both become accustomed to….praying they get back to normal soon!

It has been an amazing 182 days little lady. You have grown and changed so much in your first 6 months, and we know the next will be the same. Can’t wait to see what God has in store for us :o)
