A Vintage Christmas Touch

On Black Friday the hubs and I tried to venture out into the stores (I’m not sure if you call 11am an adventure…), but we didn’t last very long. I’m not one for crowds and the shelves were pretty much cleared out. Cyber Monday I think is more my deal. Next year, I’ll know.

Instead of shopping in the stores I didn’t a little shopping at my in-laws barn. My mother in law is quite the collector of antiques. She has really found some amazing pieces in her years of yard saling, antique stores & estate sales. While cleaning up from Thanksgiving in the barn I stumbled across several antique crates, and when I spotted that familiar red and white script letters I just couldn’t resist. She is the best MIL in the world, and so she gave it to me :o) I knew it would be perfect for this year’s Christmas decor.

The crate found it’s home on the coffee table. We have a large square table in the center of our living room, that I would probably say right now we are “living” with. Because it is so large I’m always looking for a large piece to sit center stage. Does anyone else have trouble with coffee table decor?
Please tell me I’m not alone.

Have you added any new pieces to your Christmas decor this year?

  • I LOVE that crate! I've had my eyes peeled for one just like that for years. It looks great with those shiny ornaments in it. I found you via Tatertots & Jello, and I'm following you on Facebook now. I love your style!
    Have a great weekend!

  • Yes (hands up), I have problems with coffee table décor too! Mine gets taken over with Lego or some other creation all the time so I just keep mine clear. That's ok though, one day there won't be toys all over the house and then I'll decorate it. Your ornaments look lovely, I like that crate!!
