Give Thanks | A Sharpie Plate
I was completely inspired by this pin. I’m been on a crafting hiatus lately, and all of a sudden had the urge to create something Fall-ish. It is probably the 80 degree weather that led to my desires to start adding brown, gold, and orange to my abode. I couldn’t be more ready for the cool air of autumn.
How about you?
But anyway…I digress. In one of my craft supply boxes I have a couple of white plates from a Dollar Tree adventure. It’s amazing the things they are willing to let you walk out the door with for a mere 100 pennies. They have been sitting there just waiting for inspiration to strike. And today it did just that.
As I drove home today I found myself singing a song we used to sing in church growing up..
Give thanks, with a grateful heart
Give thanks, to the holy one
Give thanks, because he’s given
Jesus Christ, His Son…
Did you sing it too?
Well that was all it took.
knew I wanted to use a little bit of these lyrics in the coronation of my Fall decorating.

Dollar Tree Plate, Sharpies, Vinyl (Optional)
I used my Silhouette to cut out the quote I decided to use and used transfer tape to stick it to the plate.
Then I used my Sharpies to color in the stencil.
Once I finished filling in the stencil, I decided to add a few things I have been thankful for lately to the rim of the plate. I think I’ll continue to do this through Thanksgiving. It should be filled up by then!
I think this would be a great idea for kids to do over the new few months. You could display the plate or use it on Thanksgiving day. A simple reminder of all God has blessed you with.
Before you use the plate you need to bake it. This will seal in the Sharpie.
From what I’ve read bake at 150 degrees for about 30 minutes.
I haven’t done this yet, so I’m not sure if it will hold up long term or not…**Update: it doesn’t hold up in the dishwasher; checkout my new method here
I think I’ll stick to just using it as part of decor since my writing is exactly where food would be :o)
Let me know if you have tried this & how the Sharpie holds up!
