Apple Chips
I can’t believe I’m even thinking about this type of thing around the holidays, I can’t even figure out what I need to do tomorrow, and I’m looking to the new year????
But on a walk a few weeks back I was talking with III about our goals for the new year.
And like the other 3.9 million people who make new year’s resolutions, we decided we need to eat healthier.
Surprise.
***3.9 million is made up, an educated guess you might say
One step on this journey to better eating in the new year is to not eat as many chips. I literally eat them 5 days a week with my PB&J. And basically they add no benefit to my health…
Enter APPLE CHIPS
While visiting the farmer’s market in San Francisco we came across a free sampling of
these delicious treats!
We tried one, then another…they were delicious
Once you pop the fun doesn’t stop!
My mission was to make some of my own as soon as we got back to our kitchen.
Have I convinced you to make your own?
What about for a holiday treat for your favorite neighbors…

Here is the simple recipe:
Apple Chips
Apples (I used Red Delicious) sliced thinly
Cinnamon
Sugar
Water
Water
Before slicing the apples boil a mixture of 2 c. water & 1.5 c. sugar.
Once it reaches a boil move to the side and let cool.
Slice your apples, brush with lemon. Let your apple slices rest in the sugar/water mixture for about an hour.

Then place them on your baking sheet
(on my second go around I realized they work best directly on the baking sheet vs. parchment paper.)
Sprinkle the apples with a mixture of one part cinnamon to two parts sugar.
Bake in the oven on 200 degrees for about 1.5 hours or until the apples are crisp!
Make sure they cool completely before storing in an air tight container.
They should stay fresh for a few days :o)
My boys think that life means to eat as many apples as you can in one day! Can't wait to try these this afternoon during our baking frenzy.
