Penguin Heart Art Activity

Two posts in one week. I’m killing it now folks! Let’s see if I can keep up this pace for awhile. We are in full on Valentine mode over here. Chickadee is in preschool, so for the first time ever I get to be on the mom and get to create Valentines with my little one to send into school. I gave Chickadee several options (shovels, mini cereal boxes, play-doh, and homemade heart crayons). She chose the homemade heart crayons for her classmates, but asked that we make dinosaurs instead of hearts (she has been talking about the for the letter D at school)…so that is what our plan is for tomorrow! I’ll make sure and drop by Instagram and Facebook to let you know how they turn out.

Sticking with the preschool theme, a few weeks ago they were talking about the letter P and doing a lot of penguin activities. Yall should see her waddle! Well she came home sharing all about penguins and her art projects and asked if Sprout could do a penguin art project too. She wanted him to be part of the fun. I of course said yes! We grabbed some construction paper, glue sticks, scissors, and crayons and got to work. Here is what we came up with (I obviously did most of the cutting but Chickadee glued things in place)…then they both wanted to color their penguins and although it doesn’t make our penguins “Pinterest Perfect” I wouldn’t have them any other way!

Making this penguin is quite simple really. Here is a little guide to get you started!

A Year of Dates | Valentines Day Idea

***This is a recycled post from when only my mom and sister were reading my blog and III and I were still giving Valentine’s gifts :/ Now six years and two kids later, I’m realizing we need more date nights in our lives. Anyone want to come babysit our crazy crew for us?

These are good ideas though, so I wanted to share it with all of you who have joined in the journey lately Hope you don’t mind the recycle!

. . . . .

III told me that I couldn’t spend a lot on our first married Valentine’s because he was planning on using ALL of the February gift budget….what fabulous anticipation this brought to my life! He has always been great at date creating, my favorite is when he gives clues that lead to the fun. I can’t wait!

Spending little money on 02.14 proposed a conundrum….so, I put on my creative hat and came up with this…

Valentine Gift Bag Idea_1

I present… a bag full of dates!

Valentine Gift Bag Idea_2

There are 12 of them. One for each month between now & next Valentine’s day. I put a personal spin on the dates, to make them special for us. None of them are very expensive, most involve food, and all include spending time doing things we love.

Here are a few of my ideas:

Creating a tent in the living room & roasting s’mores over a warm fire; movie night, Redbox anyone?; recreating our “first date” for our one seven year anniversary; going to the park to fly kites & wrapping up the day with a picnic; hiking a nearby mountain; March Maddness night…including all his favorite appetizers…

There are obviously a few more; I think I’ll have him open each month’s envelope on the first day of the month. It might look like this…

We’ll pick a date, & I’ll do all the work. It will be a nice change of pace since he is usually the planner in the date department. Hopefully, it will be a hit! Shhhh, don’t tell III!

Happy Valentine’s Day (a little early)!

Best Homemade Bubble Recipe

homemade_bubbles

Yall, we were running out of bubbles faster than Walmart runs out of bread and milk when it gets below 32 degrees down here in Georgia. Something had to be done. So I grabbed an empty juice bottle, a friend’s bubble recipe, and my favorite 2 (almost 3) year old.

I had no idea. Bubble making is so easy….everyone should do it. Let’s put the bubble makers out of business friends.

So here are the instructions:

Mix 6 cups of water & 1/2 cup of light corn syrup until completely combined.

Then add 1 cup of liquid dish soap a little at a time and mix until blended.

Will last for a long time in an air tight container!

Seriously, that’s it! We love these big bubble wands. Are actually giving away wands & this bubble recipe as a favor at Chickadee’s birthday party next week. How can she be three???????

I’ve been at stay at home wife/mom for about a year and a half now. I must admit when I started this new chapter in our lives I thought since I was no longer working I would have all the time in the world to manage and maintain a clean, 100% of the time, house. Unfortunately, I realized quickly I was oh so wrong.

What usually ended up happening is I couldn’t remember when I had cleaned what and something like dusting would get skipped for weeks until I sneezed and noticed it was snowing on the bookshelf. I needed some accountability and a routine. So I created this printable for basic daily cleaning chores day by day. And to make it even more user friendly….they are cleaning alliterations that match the day of the week. You know like, clean towels, tubs, and toilets on Tuesdays! I suppose it is the former teacher in me.

While a lot of these chores are spread out over the week, there are still daily tasks that must be accomplished each day to manage a tidy house. Most of those daily tasks happen in the kitchen…it’s the heart of every home after all.

I wanted to share with you one simple change I made in our kitchen that has made a big difference. In the past I had been super frustrated with our dishwasher detergent because it seemed our glasses always had water stains. For a while I blamed it on our water. However, I was at WalMart and noticed their Rollback prices for FINISH All in 1 Powerball tablets. I decided to give them a try.

I have been super pleased with the results! No more water spots & always sparkly clean dishes. Just look how clear that glass is! It’s truly the best dishwasher detergent.

Chickadee is even excited about clean dishes! I can’t wait until she can help load and unload :o)

Do please note that this detergent it a tablet, and like all cleaners, please keep it out of reach for little exploring hands.

You can find FINISH detergent and it’s Rollback price on the cleaning aisle at Walmart through October.

So, do you have a weekly cleaning routine that keeps your house sparkling all the time? I’d love to hear your tips!

His Steadfast Love Printable

The other week at church we sang the song His Steadfast Love. I’m not sure that is the title, so if you it’s something different let me know. It comes from Lamentations and while listening to it that Sunday morning it really struck a cord with me. Some of my favorite songs come right out of scripture. I’ve been singing it to Chickadee a lot lately and decided to make it in to a printable.

I printed it out and have it right by my bed. What a great way to start each day…being reminded that God’s mercies are new every morning and his love steadfast. So thankful we serve a faithful God!

Happy Thursday everyone!
