He Lives! Happy Easter!

“Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave He rose again. And as He stands in victory, sins curse has lost its grip on me. For I am His and He is mine, bought with the precious love of Christ!”

One of my absolute favorite worship songs. We had it sung at our wedding and it brings chills to me everytime I hear those words! Happy Easter, friends! I hope you had a wonderful day celebrating our RISEN savior. We are so thankful for the hope that comes from the empty tomb!

We have had so much fun celebrating the weeks leading up to Easter with friends and family. Lots of crafts, baking, egg hunts, reading the Easter story, and teaching our kids about God’s biggest sacrifice for us.

We had fun with neighbors throwing paint filled eggs at a canvas (more on this soon!)

Preschool Prayer

preschool_prayer

Preschool has been one of the first experiences where we’ve sent Chickadee out into the “real world” without us. But what she does take with her is our influence and the love of Jesus we are trying to plant in her heart. It’s a big deal sending them out…praying they are kind, empathetic, good helpers, and respectful.

One small thing we do each morning in the carpool line that I pray will impact her day is say a prayer. The idea was actually shared by a friend at church and she shared the prayer they used every morning before school. It was perfect and I should have written it down. However, years have passed and I couldn’t remember it. So Chickadee and I came up with our own and have been praying it each morning since her first week of preschool.

She helps recite words here and there. She always remembers the last line and says it with me wearing a BIG smile on her face. It’s absolutely precious. Over time I hope she plants these words in her heart and they stay with her throughout the day! After our prayer she bolts out of the car and I continue praying that Jesus’s light shines BRIGHT.

How are you planting the seeds of Jesus into the hearts of your children? What an important job the Lord has given to us!

OTHER PRESCHOOL FUN

Baptism Scripture Printable

Sunday was a special day for our family. Our little Chickadee was baptized. She was dressed in her great great grandfather’s, 120+ years old, christening gown as we stood on in front of family, friends, and our congregation and promised to always point our baby girl to Jesus. She is such a blessing and we can’t wait to see how God uses her to change the world!

We were lucky to have family in town to celebrate our little one as well!

As part of our baptism preparation the church asked us to choose a bible verse to represent the occasion. We decided on Philippians 1:9-11

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

I created a printable for Chickadee’s nursery and wanted to share it with you!

You can see it printed a little darker than it appears. Not sure if that was just my printer or what but, still love how it turned out.

Enjoy!

Close to my Heart

I’m sorry I’ve been a little MIA lately. The school year is coming to a close, and it’s been crazy trying to captivate these young minds with only 4 weeks until summer! I promise I will be back in full swing too!

I wanted to share a little bit of my heart with you today. As many know III and I traveled to Uganda this summer with Sozo Children to love on the many children of this country. We were blessed to be a small part in what Sozo is doing in Uganda. They truly are God’s hands and feet…living out the gospel with all that they are. They are making a better life for the children there.

Sozo is not an orphanage. It’s a family. The house moms and dads LOVE each and every one of those ebony faces as it were their own flesh and blood. Sozo and it’s partners in Uganda are following God’s lead. And with his help they are giving hundreds of children a hope and a future. They are wanting to expand their ministry. They want to give more children the family they long for. But they need our help.

Here is a little of their story. It all started with two 20something year old guys who knew something had to be done.

How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

Happy Good Friday! How Deep the Father’s Love for Us one of my absolute favorite songs; we had it sung at our wedding & it was absolutely beautiful! It is perfect to share with you today in honor Good Friday and the good news of Christ’s resurrection that is coming on Easter this Sunday!

How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that left Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

You can listen to How Deep the Father’s Love for Us here.
