About Me

Hey Everyone! I’m Laura Beth, but my friends call me LB. I am so glad you are here!

Welcome to my blog; my little piece of the world wide web where I like to share about home renovations, DIY projects, craft tutorials, adventures in the kitchen, and our little life we have created outside of Atlanta, Georgia. By we, I mean III (husband) and I. We were married on July 17, 2010 in Alabama. We are both from there (met at Auburn, WAR EAGLE) and have made our way from small town Alabama to living the big city life.

We are the recently added a little bundle of joy to our mix, meet Chickadee.
To say we are obsessed with her would be an understatement. She is such a blessing from God, and we are so thankful for the joy she brings into our lives on a moment by moment basis. We are expecting baby #2, who we affectionately call Sprout in May of 2015. With two under two (they’ll be about 19 months apart) we know we are in for some craziness, but to be honest we can’t wait!
We also have one furry child, Max. The big brother of the house, he is almost 6 years old and as lazy as ever.

III and I bought our first home right after we married. We’ve been here almost five years and have tackled some major improvements to make this house our home. You can check out the Home Tour tab to see how far we’ve come. And as far as this house is concerned, how far we are going to go, because in February of 2015 we decided we needed to move on to a new project! We listed our home and it sold in less than a week for over asking price (you can read about how, here). Our new house will be perfect for our growing family and has also brought us more DIY projects that I cannot wait to share with you!

A little bit more about me…I taught third grade for seven years, before staying home with Chickadee. This little blog here is what you might say is my 1/2 of a part time job. What would you call that? I love chronicling our adventures and sharing them with our friends (that is you). You will find everything for DIY home projects, craft tutorials, delicious recipes and baking ideas, as well as a little bit of our life popping in here and there.

A few of my most well loved posts are:

And in true “about me” fashion I must also share: I love chicken fingers, sweet tea, AUBURN football, long walks, hanging out with the family and rocking on the porch at the lake. I would choose an Auburn football Saturday over shopping at the mall and a coke Icee over any beverage choice available.
We are so grateful for the life God has called us too and are daily amazed by his grace and mercy.
I hope to inspire you, as you do me. Thanks for checking in on the journey.
I would love to hear from you! laurabeth(at)astepinthejourney(dot)com

  1. Hi Laura Beth — just came across your blog, and am enjoying its cheerful, homey feeling. Like a fresh-baked pie just out of the oven, bubbling with fun! I’ve added it to a list of positive blogs I keep on my own site. :)

  2. Hello Beautiful Blogging Friend!
I also swung by via the “revamping about pages” post and had to share my admiration for your lovely lil spot here on the web. Your About Page is a perfect length (and I’m ADD in blog hopping), your personality translates clearly and shows a likeable, genuine chikadee whose enjoying life and inspiring others. I recently deleted the theme and all customizations on my blog and decided to start from scratch which has been a tad overwhelming! Your blog is a great reminder to just be me and show who I am on my “about,” a genuine and real, personable, relatable voice kept me reading longer than the “abouts” that still sound ‘nice’ but as far as inspiration goes, feels more intimidating and overwhelming. Thank you for having me ;)

You are so sweet! Thanks so much for stopping by our journey and taking the time to say hello! Good luck on redoing your blog, I am sure it will be fantastic :o)

  3. I don’t know you, but it seems that we (like the last commenter) have so much in common! I’m also Laura Beth/LB to friends, also from Alabama, now living in the “city,” an Auburn alum, and even have that cute skirt you’re wearing in the picture at the top of the page! :) Just read your 12-ish tips for newborns since I’m expecting and terrified, and it was great! Thanks for sharing it. I’m so glad I stumbled on your blog! Will definitely be keeping up with your adventures here. Nice to “meet” you, and WAR EAGLE!! – another LB

  4. Hey Laura Beth!
Visiting from Lauren’s post about re-vamping her ‘About’ page and I am blown away by all we have in common! I’m an AUburn alum, live in Alabama, and am saved by God’s grace! (I’m just waaaaay older!) ;-) I just love serendipity, don’t you?

Congratulations on your baby on the way! Little girls are the best! You will be an amazing mother!

Hope you are well! I love your blog!

  7. Just wanted to let you know that you were a part of my inspiration as I revamped my “About” page this week. Gave you a little shout-out in my post, too. Laura Beth, you rock!

  8. Dear LB,
Your printables are fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
I would love to get a version without the watermark, and attempted to follow you, but the link only brings me to a photobucket site with your icon. Can you please point me in the right direction?
