5:00 am comes oh so early each morning, as Mumford & Sons begins to sing Awake my Soul on my phone alarm. My soul wants to keep on sleeping just a little bit longer. However, the morning rush must begin. I like to wake up in time to not only look decent, but also have a few minutes of quiet time before I head out the door to teach my 26 third graders.
While at a “new to me” WalMart the other day I found myself mesmerized by The Bakery. I had just grabbed some of Starbucks Dark French Roast, and I was looking for the perfect breakfast or snack treat to pair with the coffee I add to my morning dose of sugar and cream. You remember….5:00 am; I need all the help I can get!
I really wanted cinnamon rolls since Starbucks suggested they would enrich the taste of their Dark French Roast, but they were all out! I checked the display and it told me all kinds of goodness that is best paired with the Dark French Roast. So, instead I picked up these snickerdoodles that I thought I could share with my students at their book club this week while I sipped on my morning energy.
The kids fought over those snickerdoodles!
A few days later I stopped in my personal WalMart and guess what I found??
The Bakery Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls. I was excited to try these with the Starbucks Dark French Roast, because the coffee was suppose to bring out the flavor of the cinnamon roll. While I am not an avid drinker or drive through coffee customer, I was excited to see if the pairing would change my tune. The difference in the taste was definitely there! In some magical way the cinnamon was stronger with the Starbucks coffee.
I am grateful to the quick morning fix for days when I am running late or I decided to snooze another 15 minutes! And I must admit III was thankful for the opportunity to try this #DeliciousPairing too….he couldn’t wait to get his hands on that iced goodness!
